Weather conditions on this day down through Irish history.

1907: A strong northwest wind brings heavy snow showers across Ireland. 

30th January, 1907. Meteociel 

1930: The Irish Times reports the loss in bad weather of a trading ketch, Bernard, off Dungarvan, County Waterford, bound for Bridgwater in the Bristol Channel. All three on board survived. 

1945: A severe 10-day cold spell finally breaks as milder Atlantic air pushes in over Ireland.

1947:  Ireland was colder than Antarctica, with nighttime temperatures dipping to -14C.

1963: Gale force easterly winds and heavy falls of snow impact parts of Wicklow, Wexford, Cork, Waterford, Dublin, Kildare, Meath and Louth with drifts of up to 15 Feet recorded over higher ground in Wicklow and Wexford.

1979: Snow and ice cause travel disruption across Ireland. One motorist is killed due to treacherous road conditions.

1988: Tillage farmers are faced with a lengthy delay to ploughing for spring cereal crops due to saturated ground. In its report for January 1988, Met Eireann said "The Atlantic influence was dominant. The month was exceptionally wet, mild and dull." Dungarvan in Waterford recorded 287mm of rainfall during the month, 226% higher than its average total.
