1947:  Newspapers report people skating on frozen ponds around the country as a relentless Big Freeze continues. 

1990: Ireland is hit by strong gale force winds and heavy rain with flooding reported across the country. A young Evelyn O'Rourke of Met Éireann discusses the storm on RTÉ News.


2002: Heavy wind, coastal flooding and torrential rain result in widespread travel disruption across Ireland, particularly in Dublin where homes are flooded. Thousands of homes are left without power.
