Atlantic holding off as dry spell continues
The largely dry conditions will continue for the next week with temperatures hitting the mid-teens by mid-week.
Some cold frosty nights are expected in the meantime, with a widespread frost across Ireland tonight into Saturday morning.
Temperatures will drop close to or below freezing in all but exposed coastal locations.
No appreciable rainfall is expected up to and including next Thursday, while all parts can expect a mix of sunny spells and cloud.
A return to more Atlantic-driven weather pattern is likely later next week as the high pressure that is bringing us largely dry and settled weather moves away from Ireland.
The change is illustrated in the latest Ensembles output from the GFS weather model. The graphics show rising temperatures and precipitation levels and lowering air pressure from next Thursday.
