Typical April weather conditions to persist

Typical April weather will take hold over the coming 7–10 days with a mix of sunshine, scattered showers, and more prolonged outbreaks of rain at times.
Daytime temperatures will be close to the seasonal average of 9–12°C, while temperatures will drop close to freezing in many places at night, ranging from 0–5°C.
Overall rainfall amounts will be above average, with the highest totals (30–35 mm) in the Atlantic coastal counties of the west and northwest, as well as in the eastern and northeastern coastal counties.
Winds will generally be gentle to moderate westerly until midweek, before shifting to light southerly on Thursday and moderate to fresh easterly for a time on Friday.
Details:
Outbreaks of rain in eastern Leinster will slowly clear on Monday afternoon. Scattered showers, some of which will be thundery, will continue to feed in from the west but will become more isolated as the evening progresses.
Showers will retreat to the west coast on Monday night, leaving a largely dry night with frost forming under clear skies. It will remain slightly cloudier in northeast Ulster and Leinster.
Showers will be well scattered on Tuesday, leaving a largely dry day with the best sunshine in the western half of Ireland, particularly along the north coast.
A widespread frost will form in many areas on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Wednesday will begin dry everywhere, but a frontal system tracking over the Irish Sea may bring some rain for a time in the northeast.
By late afternoon, scattered outbreaks of rain will extend from the south and push north. It will be heaviest in the west and south but patchier elsewhere with lower rainfall totals.
Scattered outbreaks of rain will continue in the northwest during the first half of Thursday and will be followed by scattered heavy showers through the remainder of the day.
A frontal system may bring a period of heavy rain to the southeast on Friday morning, followed by scattered heavy showers pushing across Ireland from the west.
Showery conditions interspersed with sunny spells are expected through the Easter weekend.
It will remain cool by day (8–12°C), with an ongoing risk of overnight frost.
High pressure will build to the north of Ireland during the following week, eventually introducing drier, warmer, and more settled conditions as we enter the final week of April.
