Gradual improvement in weather to follow mixed Easter weekend

Conditions will gradually improve through the Easter weekend following one of the wettest days of the year so far.
Since Thursday night, rainfall has typically ranged from 20mm to 30mm, with the South recording the highest amounts. Roches Point in Cork has received over 50mm in the past 36 hours.
On Saturday afternoon, rain will become lighter and more scattered, with dry periods emerging in many areas by evening.
Sunday will bring mostly dry weather across Ireland, with sunny intervals in Leinster and East Ulster, though light rain or drizzle may affect Atlantic coastal counties in the afternoon due to a warm front.
Sunday night will see a band of showers, merging into longer spells of rain, move into the southwest, slowly clearing eastward on Monday.
While rain lingers in eastern and northeastern counties, brighter or sunny spells with scattered showers will develop in western areas.
A band of rain is likely to develop on Tuesday, with the heaviest totals in the west and south, and lighter amounts in Ulster and north Leinster.
Temperatures over the Bank Holiday weekend will range between 10 and 13°C.
Monday night could bring a touch of frost as temperatures hover between 1 and 6°C, with the coldest values in sheltered inland locations.
From Wednesday, weather conditions will significantly improve, featuring bright or sunny spells and only occasional scattered showers.
Temperatures will rise to 13 to 15°C, except along the east coast, where a light easterly breeze will keep it cooler.
A frontal system may bring rain across Ireland, particularly to Munster and south Leinster, from Thursday into Friday.
With high pressure centred north of Ireland, the warmest temperatures (mid-teens) are likely inland in the west and northwest, while coastal areas in the south and east will remain 2-3°C cooler due to an east-to-southeast breeze.
