Some parts of Ireland will record their first rainfall in a fortnight this Sunday and Monday before very warm and largely dry conditions return for next week.

Apart from some isolated showers in the northwest and west on Saturday, the day will be dry with long spells of sunshine. Top temperatures will range from 16 to 17°C.

Some light rain or showers associated with a warm front will push into western and northwest coastal areas late on Sunday morning.

Heavy showers in the southeast will extend northward during the afternoon and will turn thundery in places with a risk of localised spot .

Parts of Munster, Connacht, and northeast Ulster may remain completely dry.

Showery activity will continue from Sunday night through Tuesday morning.

The remainder of the week will be largely dry with extensive sunshine at times. Temperatures will reach the low 20s in places by mid-week as moderate easterly winds turn light southerly or variable.

High pressure will remain in charge of Ireland’s weather through next weekend.
