From Record Sunshine to Rain: Ireland’s Weather Turns

WeathEire Forecast 4

Ireland’s weather will remain changeable up to and including the opening days of June, as Atlantic frontal systems bring occasional showers or longer spells of rain.

Ulster and high ground along the western seaboard will experience the highest rainfall amounts (40–60 mm) over the next 10 days, with lower totals in the southeast (15–20 mm).

Temperatures will slowly drop from the mid to low teens over the weekend and through Monday, before rising steadily into the mid to high teens next week. Nights will be frost-free.

Winds will be predominantly moderate to fresh, from the west to southwest, up to next weekend.

The band of rain extending across Ireland today brings a near four-week dry spell to an end, which brought record-breaking sunshine to some parts of the country.

Sunshine amounts over the next 10 days will be below average, with largely overcast conditions persisting, particularly up to and including early next week.

There will be rain or showers each day, but drier conditions will develop for the second half of next week, away from the northwest and north, as a ridge of high pressure builds from .

The long-range weather prospects favour high pressure becoming the dominant feature of our weather towards the end of the first week of June, with above-average temperatures and below-average rainfall.
