Ireland enjoyed plenty of sunshine on Monday, closing out a drier-than-usual March with clear skies across many regions.

The best of the sunshine occured in the Midlands, Munster, and Connacht.

Northern, eastern, and southern coastal counties remained under extensive cloud cover.

A high-pressure system developing to the northeast will bring more widespread sunshine throughout the week.

Inland areas will see the warmest temperatures, while a moderate easterly breeze will keep conditions cooler along the east and southeast coasts.

Temperatures will reach 16-18°C in most regions, with the east and southeast staying cooler at 10-13°C.

However, in sheltered spots, it will feel even warmer—offering a welcome taste of spring.

Ireland is well accustomed to a “March of Many Weathers”, but this March has proven to be free of dramatic twists and turns in conditions.

The below average rainfall totals across Ireland this March are in stark contrast to recent years.

March 2023 was the wettest on record, while March 2024 was also in the top ten wettest months since records began.
