Clear skies over Ireland were captured by the Sentinel-2 satellite has passed over Ireland shortly before midday on Wednesday.

Sentinel-2 is a European Space Agency mission that utilises high-resolution, multi-spectral imaging. It was launched into space on 23 June 2015.

The below images feature close-up views of north , , , and from space on Wednesday.

Phytoplankton (Algae) Blooms can be seen in off the coast of , Dublin.

Phytoplankton are possibly the most important group of organisms on the planet as they generate most of the oxygen that we breath.

Most food chains depend on their presence as a primary food source.

The images also caopture silt being washed by rivers into the sea.
