Friday dominated by mix of scattered cloud and sunshine

Satellite imagery of Ireland on Friday afternoon shows a mix of scattered cloud and clear skies.
The southern of Ireland enjoyed the best of the sunshine when the NASA MODIS satellite passed over.
Scattered cloud could be seen further north as a cold front introduced cooler temperatures from the north.
Brown silt could be seen in The Shannon Estuary and River Fergus, while clear skies brought long spells of sunshine to Macroom in County Cork.

Further north, cloud cover was greater as seen in this Copernicus image of the northwest of Ireland.

Persistent high pressure will deliver exceptionally dry conditions to Ireland over the next 10 to 14 days.
It will turn temporarily cooler on Saturday evening through Monday as a cold front introduces a northerly airflow across Ireland. Sunday will be the coolest day, with temperatures ranging from 9C in the north to 15C in the south.
Temperatures will drop low enough during Saturday, Sunday, and Monday nights to bring a touch of frost to sheltered inland locations.
Temperatures will gradually rise everywhere as next week progresses, peaking in the mid to high teens beyond mid-week.
