Crew of three rescued near Wicklow Harbour

On Monday evening, three individuals were rescued after their yacht encountered mechanical issues four miles south of Wicklow Harbour.
At 8:50pm, Wicklow RNLI‘s all-weather lifeboat, RNLB Bridie O’Shea, launched following reports of a yacht with three people aboard suffering electrical problems and engine failure.
The volunteer crew located the vessel 20 minutes later in calm conditions with good visibility.
After assessing the situation, the crew determined the yacht could not proceed safely without propulsion or wind and decided to tow it to Wicklow Harbour, the nearest safe location.
The yacht was secured alongside shortly after, and all three individuals were found to be unharmed, requiring no further assistance.
Deputy LPO Connie O’Gara praised the crew’s swift response and training, which ensured the safe rescue.
She advised those planning sea trips to carry reliable communication devices, inform others of their plans, and contact the Coast Guard via 112 or 999 in emergencies.
