Overnight water restrictions remain in place on Inis Oírr

Uisce Éireann is reminding residents and visitors on Inis Oírr that nighttime water restrictions remain in effect to help conserve supply during the busy spring and summer season.
The restrictions, which began in mid-April, are in place from 11pm to 7am daily. They are necessary to protect the island’s water reservoir levels and ensure a consistent daytime supply for all.
Tony Kelly of Uisce Éireann expressed his thanks to the local community for their continued co-operation and encouraged everyone to keep up their water-saving efforts.
“We’re asking customers to stay mindful of their water use,” he said. “Simple actions like turning off the tap while brushing your teeth or shaving can save up to six litres of water per minute. Using a watering can instead of a hose and choosing showers over baths also helps reduce demand.”
He also reminded property owners with vacant homes to check for leaks and turn off the water supply where it’s not needed.
Customers registered as vulnerable with Uisce Éireann will receive direct updates for any planned or emergency interruptions lasting over four hours.
