€4.3m for coastal marine projects

57 maritime infrastructure projects across 11 coastal counties in Ireland have been approved for funding in 2025.
Minister of State for Fisheries and the Marine, Timmy Dooley TD, has announced that €4.33 million will be allocated to support these local authority-led initiatives.
The funding will assist coastal local authorities in maintaining and developing marine infrastructure linked to fisheries and aquaculture.
Funded projects include upgrade works to Seafield Pier in Clare, the renewal of the sea wall and lifting equipment at Clogherhead Port Oriel in Louth, the provision of CCTV and Access Control at Wicklow and Arklow Harbour, the upgrade of visitor moorings at Kenmare Bay in Kerry, and a crane installation at Inch Pier in Donegal.
Minister Dooley commented, “The increased total value of individual projects in this year’s allocation gives local authorities the opportunity to continue the ongoing development and enhancement of harbour and fishing facilities, also allowing for some marine leisure developments, benefitting different cohorts of users.”
The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine will administer the programme and will co-fund up to 75% of the eligible project costs, up to a maximum reimbursement of €187,500, with the local authority co-funding the remaining costs.
