Winds Hit 79 km/h in Galway and Cork

Windy conditions have returned to Ireland following an extended period of light to gentle winds.
Wind gusts reaching 79 km/h were recorded during Sunday and early Monday at Mace Head (Galway) and Roches Point (Cork), while Finner (Donegal) and Ireland West Knock Airport (Mayo) both recorded gusts of 76 km/h.
The worst of the winds in the past 24 hours were recorded in Scotland. Cairnwell and Aonach Mór registered gusts of 113 km/h and 102 km/h respectively.
The breezy conditions will continue through the early days of this week, particularly along the south coast, with lighter winds elsewhere during Tuesday.
A mobile Atlantic regime will continue to feed bands of rain and showers across Ireland for the remainder of this week and into the following week.
