Rainfall Surges in the North and Midlands

Over the past week, rainfall levels have been above average across northern and midland areas, while southern and eastern regions saw below-average totals.

According to Met Éireann, the highest rainfall was recorded in , Co. , with 31mm — nearly double the norm at 197% of average. In contrast, the southeast saw the lowest total at just 7.6mm (46% of average).

The unsettled weather pattern will continue this week, bringing rain and showers nationwide. Some showers may be heavy, with a risk of thunderstorms, particularly over the next few days. Rainfall amounts are expected to be at or above average, with parts of the east, midlands, and north likely to receive 1.5 to 2 times the usual levels.
