1903: A significant spring storm brings intense winds and heavy rainfall across the eastern and southern coastal regions. Shipping activities are badly impacted.
1953: Drought conditions take hold in Leinster as the east of the country enters its fifth week without rainfall.
1975: The Irish government says imports of petroleum products from Britain are down on 1974 due to the mild start to the year.
1979: Strong north westerly winds combined with high tides led to significant erosion and temporary inundation of low-lying coastal areas.
1991: Met Éireann issues its winter summary in which it says Ireland had its coldest winter in some locations since the winter of 1978/79.
2013: RAF Chinook Helicopters are deployed to carry out food drops in the Glens of Antrim and south Down to communities cut off by heavy snowfall.
