1979: Strong northwest winds associated with an area of low pressure tracking to Ireland’s north causes power outages in West Munster, Connacht and Ulster.
1984: The temperature rises to 24c at Valentia in County Kerry.
1998: The largest dry bulk carrier ever to dock at an Irish port, the 183,000-tonne Buccleuch, arrives at the deep-water Shannon Estuary jetty of the ESB‘s generating station at Moneypoint in West Clare.
