1962: A 25-year-old female parachutist is blown off course by a freak gust on her final descent to Weston Airport and ends up perched on a tree in Leixlip Castle estate.
1984: The temperature reaches 23.6°C at Valentia in Kerry, while the mercury level rises to 23°C in Belmullet (Mayo) and Galway.
1987: Temperatures reach the low 20s in most parts of Ireland, but it remains much cooler in the far north where the maximum daytime high at Malin Head is just 10.4°C.
2019: A Met Éireann Red Warning remains in place as Storm Hannah brings a gust of 115km/h to Mace Head in Galway.
2000: Persistent rain forces the cancellation of race meetings.
2021: A 30-day partial drought at Johnstown Castle in Wexford comes to an end.
2022: Malin Head in Donegal records the month’s highest daily sunshine total (14.1 hours).
2024: Mount Dillon in Roscommon records the month’s lowest temperature (-2.2°C).
