1974: The overnight temperature in Kilkenny dips to -3°C.
1979: A hard frost is reported across the country as temperatures drop close to or below zero Celsius at all stations.
1984: Birr in County Offaly starts off the day with a morning high of 2.9°C and an afternoon high of 18.9°C.
1987: A 118km/h wind gust is recorded at Malin Head in Donegal.
1990: Warm conditions persist across Ireland as Valentia in Kerry records a top temperature of 25.6°C.
1993: The temperature drops to 1.5°C at Claremorris, Mayo.
1996: Cold and blustery conditions are recorded in Casement in Dublin, which records a daily high of just 7°C and over 24mm of rainfall and strong gale-force winds.
1997: The temperature rises to 23.9°C in Belmullet, Mayo.
2000: Shannon Airport records 20°C as temperatures hit the high teens and low 20s in many locations.
2006: Valentia in Kerry records an inch of rainfall, as gale-force winds sweep across Ireland.
2007: 23°C is recorded in Shannon and Belmullet. Malin Head only achieves a maximum of 13.5°C.
2015: Heavy rain affects the southern half of Ireland, with Roche’s Point in Cork recording 38.1mm.
2021: Ireland wakes to a widespread frost under the influence of a Polar airmass.
