1906: A doctor and his wife from Castleisland in Kerry are rescued from a steamer than sinks off Sark in the Channel Islands. 36 lives are lost in the tragedy.
1924: The inaugural flight of the Belfast Air Mail Service takes off from Malone Aerodrome.
