1980: Temperatures reach the low 20s°C in many parts of Ireland as high pressure anchored over Scandinavia draws in warm air from the continent.
1987: An Atlantic depression moves over Ireland bringing strong gale force winds, with Kilkenny recording a 92 km/h gust.
1988: Kilkenny wakes to frost conditions and a morning low of 0.5°C, with the mercury rising almost 20°C to 20.3°C by afternoon.
1992: Despite temperatures in the high teens and largely dry conditions, strong winds sweep across Ireland with Belmullet in Mayo recording a 108 km/h gust.
1993: Bitterly cold northeasterly winds produce a daytime maximum temperature of just 5°C at Mullingar in Westmeath.
2008: The temperature reaches 23.3°C in Shannon.
2020: Mount Dillon in Roscommon records the month’s lowest air temperature (minus 3.2°C).
