Dense fog will form overnight and will be stubborn to lift in places during Friday morning.

Winds will fall near calm on Thursday night allowing patches of and fog to form.

Temperatures will drop close to freezing in the Midlands but will remain closer to 5-6°C near coastal districts.

Dense fog will create challenging travel conditions on Friday morning in affected areas.

In parts of the west and south coasts, fog could persist into early afternoon.

Elsewhere, sunshine will break through, pushing temperatures to 20°C or higher in a few locations.

This weekend, the warm, dry spell will give way to cooler, more unsettled weather.

High pressure will move south, making way for heavy, thundery showers on Sunday and Monday.

While occasional dry spells are expected, frontal systems will bring showers or prolonged rain next week.
