Temperatures soar into the mid twenties

Ireland enjoyed clear skies and warm sunshine during Thursday as parts of the West saw the mercury level soar to 24c.

ireland is set to enjoy another week of sunshine and warm temperatures as high pressure continues to influence weather conditions across northwest Europe.

Temperatures will peak in the mid-20s before cooling slightly beyond midweek next week.

It will remain dry everywhere up to and including next Wednesday, at least.

Temperatures will peak at 25°C in the west, with values closer to 19 to 22°C on eastern and southern coasts exposed to the easterly breeze. Nights will be mild and frost-free.

High pressure will weaken as we move into the second half of next week, with Atlantic systems encroaching from the west.

A change in airmass will see temperatures drop to the mid to high teens.

Some rainfall is expected at times during the final week of May, but there will also be a good deal of dry weather.
