Overnight water restrictions in Tipperary to protect supply

Tipperary-water-1200x675 Overnight water restrictions in Tipperary to protect supply

Uisce Éireann is urging customers to conserve water as overnight restrictions are introduced this weekend for those supplied by the Goatenbridge Water Treatment Plant in Co Tipperary.

The measures, in place due to low reservoir levels and operational issues at the plant, will run from 10pm to 6am starting on Friday night and continuing on Saturday and Sunday nights, August 16 and 17.

Areas affected include Poulatar, Ballybacon, Newcastle, Ballyveera, Castlegrace, Shanakill, Magherareagh, Ardfinnan and surrounding areas.

Pierce Faherty, Uisce Éireann’s water operations manager in Tipperary, said the restrictions were necessary to maintain daytime supply. “We understand the inconvenience of overnight restrictions, but these measures are necessary to ensure continuous daytime supply for homes and businesses while we allow the reservoir levels time to recover,” he said.

Vulnerable customers registered with Uisce Éireann will receive direct communication about planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours. Information on registration is available via the utility’s Vulnerable Customers page.
