Sun sets early, heat stays high for Ireland’s Yerevan showdown

Ireland-v-Armenia-Weather-Forecast-1-1200x675 Sun sets early, heat stays high for Ireland’s Yerevan showdown

The Republic of Ireland continue their World Cup qualifying campaign this evening when they take on Armenia in Yerevan (kick-off 5pm Irish time).

Heimir Hallgrímsson’s side are under pressure to secure a first win of the campaign, but face testing conditions at the Republican Stadium.

With Yerevan three hours ahead of Dublin, the sun will set before kick-off at the 14,403-capacity venue, yet temperatures are forecast to remain above 30 degrees throughout the match.

While winds are expected to be light, the low humidity levels should be a relief to players on both sides as they contend with the heat.

This evening’s weather conditions are in stark contrast to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday. The temperature hovered at around 17c for Ireland’s opener against Hungary, which finished 2-2.
