Wet and Windy Weather Set to Persist

Ireland faces a week of unsettled weather under a mobile Atlantic pattern, with below-average temperatures, frequent rain, and gusty winds, especially Sunday and Monday.

Cool, showery conditions today with bring heavy downpours and isolated thunderstorms in the west, while the east and south stay drier. Daytime highs will reach 12 to 16 degrees with fresh westerly winds.

Friday and Saturday will see scattered showers, some heavy and thundery, spreading across the country, with afternoon temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees. Sunday will be the wettest and windiest day, with coastal gusts of 85 to 95 km/h and persistent heavy rain moving northeast.

Monday and Tuesday remain windy with showers across the west and north, while the east sees drier spells. Temperatures will stay near 12 to 16 degrees. Unsettled conditions are expected to continue into next week, keeping ground soft ahead of the National Ploughing Championships.
