Waterford Port submits plans for offshore wind terminal

The Port of Waterford has taken a major step towards supporting Ireland’s offshore wind ambitions with the submission of a planning application to An Coimisiún Pleanála for a new Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Capable Terminal at Belview, County Kilkenny.
The move follows the recent award of a Maritime Area Consent, giving the port the green light to develop specialised infrastructure for offshore projects.
Plans include a 250-metre wharf extension, new operator facilities, berthing pontoons, workshops, warehouses, and office space for ORE companies.
The development will also feature on-site renewable power generation, upgraded electrical systems, and a dedicated biodiversity area.
The project aims to enhance Waterford Port’s role as a strategic base for offshore wind initiatives in the Celtic Sea, including the proposed Tonn Nua Offshore Wind Farm.
