Water restrictions in parts of Tipperary

Uisce Éireann is urging households across west Tipperary to conserve water as the Galtee Regional Water Supply remains under serious pressure.
The call comes as demand continues to surge, especially since the start of June, and with warmer, drier weather in the forecast, supplies could face further strain.
The Galtee supply, sourced from the River Muskry, serves over 10,000 people across dozens of communities, including Bansha, Aherlow, Emly, Lattin and Cullen.
“We’ve had some rain, yes – but it’s not enough,” says Pierce Faherty of Uisce Éireann. “We’re still feeling the effects of a dry autumn, winter and spring. It’ll take weeks of sustained rainfall to fully recover water sources.”
Uisce Éireann is ramping up leak detection and network repairs, but says public support is crucial. People are being asked to cut back wherever possible – at home, in the garden, on the farm.
Top Tips to Save Water:
- Ditch the hose – use a watering can instead
- Shorter showers – even one minute less saves litres
- Turn off the tap while brushing teeth
- Wait for a full load before running washing machines or dishwashers
- Swap baths for showers
