Broadcaster Dermot O’Leary is back on the island of Ireland this week, filming the second series of Dermot’s Taste of Ireland, which will once again put the country’s food producers in the spotlight for millions of British viewers.

Following a first series that reached more than 3.3 million people in Britain, O’Leary will this time journey along the Causeway Coastal Route, through Derry, Donegal and Sligo, meeting farmers, fishers, bakers and chefs whose work defines the island’s culinary character.

From seafood straight off the boat to artisan breads and cheeses rooted in local tradition, the ten-part series will showcase the skill, innovation and heritage behind Ireland’s produce. O’Leary will also join in outdoor experiences that shape the rhythm of life along the coasts, from fishing trips to wild swims, underlining the connection between landscape, community and food.

The series is produced by Rock Oyster Media and supported through the Shared Island Tourism Brand Collaboration Project. It is set to air on ITV1 and streaming service ITVX next spring.

Tourism Ireland chief executive Alice Mansergh said the first series “resonated strongly with audiences, particularly among the Irish diaspora in Britain,” adding that the new series would inspire viewers “to explore our iconic coastal routes and taste the flavours that make them unique.”

O’Leary, whose Irish roots are in Wexford, said he was looking forward to “seeing more of the island, meeting our people, exploring our heritage, swimming in our seas, and of course… eating our incredible food.”
