Blustery but dry conditions expected for Ireland’s World Cup opener

Supporters heading to the Aviva Stadium tonight for the Republic of Ireland’s opening World Cup 2026 qualifier against Hungary can expect dry but blustery weather in Dublin.
Mean wind speeds of 35 to 45 km/h are expected, with gusts reaching up to 60 km/h, blowing toward the northwest end of the ground.
The impact of the breeze at pitch level will be softened somewhat by the east stand and the Lansdowne Road end.
The evening will remain dry, with only a small chance of occasional light mist.
Skies will be largely overcast, and temperatures are set to hold steady at around 17 degrees throughout the match.
