Yellow Warnings Issued for Rain and Rough Seas

Rain-warning-3-1200x675 Yellow Warnings Issued for Rain and Rough Seas

The UK Met Office has issued a yellow rain warning for Antrim, Armagh and Down for Saturday.

Heavy rain is expected to cause some localised flooding and travel disruption. The warning is valid from 7:00AM to 7:00PM.

Elsewhere, rainfall totals of between 5mm and 10mm is likely overnight and through the first half of Saturday, with a clearance to dry spells and scattered showers in the west spreading slowly eastward through the day.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann has issued yellow marine warnings for all coasts of Ireland. Southerly winds are expected to reach force 6 or higher, prompting a Small Craft Warning. These conditions will persist from until 6:00AM Saturday.

Additional local warnings are in place from Malin Head to Howth Head to Roche’s Point, with southerly winds reaching force 6 at times from 6:00AM to 6:00PM on Saturday.

Sunday and Monday will bring a mix of cloud and sunny spells with just isolated showers. High pressure to the east will drift further away while a secondary high builds from the south during the coming week. Low pressure systems will edge closer to the north and west coasts, bringing more blustery and at times wetter conditions there. The best of the dry spells will be in the east and south under a southwesterly airflow.
