Ireland will enjoy plenty of dry and warm weather through the rest of this week, with temperatures staying above average for mid-August. Conditions will turn more unsettled in places from Sunday into early next week.

Wednesday
Largely dry with long spells of sunshine. Some cloud at times in Ulster and along western coasts.
Temperatures: 17–23°C, warmest in the west.
Winds: Light east.

Thursday
Mostly dry with just a few light, scattered showers. Cloud and sunny spells for all areas.
Temperatures: 17–23°C.
Winds: Light southeast.

Friday
Mist or fog will clear to a mainly dry day with sunshine. A few showers will drift into Ulster and western counties later.
Temperatures: 17–24°C, coolest in the north, warmest in the south.
Winds: Light west.

Saturday
Dry for much of the day with sunny breaks. Showers will develop during the late afternoon, some turning thundery.
Temperatures: 18–23°C.
Winds: Light southeast.

Sunday
Bright in the east early on. Cloud will increase from the west, with rain reaching west Munster by mid-afternoon before spreading more widely across the west and south overnight.
Temperatures: 19–22°C.
Winds: Moderate to fresh southeast.

Monday
Cooler than of late. Outbreaks of rain for much of the day as low pressure lingers near the southwest, though Ulster and north Leinster will be drier. Becoming mainly dry by evening and overnight.
Temperatures: 14–19°C.
Winds: Fresh southeast, easing later.

Rest of next week
Atlantic conditions will bring a more unsettled spell with scattered rain and occasional dry intervals. Rainfall totals will return closer to normal after a very dry run. Temperatures will also dip to near or slightly below average. Some longer-range signals suggest high pressure could rebuild near Ireland later in the week, bringing a return to more settled conditions.
