The next fortnight will bring a more mobile Atlantic regime, with fresher winds and frequent showers or longer spells of rain. Winds will be moderate to fresh westerly on most days.
Today – Monday
Warm and humid at first before cooler air pushes in from the west. Rain, squally and thundery in places, will spread east through the afternoon and evening, becoming more scattered later. The northeast will see the smallest rainfall amounts. Scattered showers will follow along the west coast overnight.

Tuesday
Heavy showers in the west and north, spreading inland at times. Drier and brighter in the south and east.
- Temperatures: 16–20°C, coolest in the west
- Winds: Fresh south-westerly, easing by late evening
Wednesday
Overnight rain clearing the southeast in the morning, followed by heavy showers. Some dry and bright spells, especially across the east.

Thursday
Heavy showers merging at times to give longer spells of rain.

- Winds: Moderate south-westerly, easing southerly later

Scattered showers, some heavy. The southeast will see the best of any dry spells.

Unsettled with heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Temperatures below average everywhere, with highs in the mid-teens. Winds moderate to fresh westerly.
Next Week
Unsettled conditions continuing into the first week of September, with Atlantic systems bringing frequent rain and showers. Rainfall well above average in the west but closer to or slightly below normal in the east. Fresh winds persisting. Signs of high pressure building gradually from the south during the second week of September, bringing drier weather to the south and southeast.
