
NASA satellite captures smoke from Mourne Mountains blaze

Smoke from the gorse fires that have broken out in recent days in the Mourne Mountains was captured by a NASA satellite as it passed over Ireland on Tuesday.
62 firefighters were involved in tackling a new blaze that broke out near Kilkeel, County Down, on Wednesday evening.
It is the fourth major fire the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) has had to respond to since last week, with other fires breaking out near Silent Valley and Castlewellan.
The Belfast Telegraph reports that Six fire engines from Kilkeel, Downpatrick, Newcastle, Rathfriland and Newry were dispatched to Wednesday evening’s blaze.
The Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite captured smoke rising over the Mourne Mountains on Tuesday.
