A sailor whose boat got into difficulty off the coast of County Galway was towed to shore by RNLI on Friday afternoon.

The volunteer RNLI crew mobilised after the man was seen to be in difficulty and taking on water in .

Upon reaching the sailor, the RNLI team opted to set up an alongside tow to guide the sailing vessel to a secure mooring spot.

Despite the ordeal, the sailor remained unscathed and upbeat as he was brought safely back to shore.
The operation took place amidst tough sea conditions, with a strong south-westerly wind adding to the challenge.

Clifden RNLI Lifeboat Operations Manager Tony Casey commented, ‘I was delighted to see all the hard work of training and assessments play out in the rescue. Huge congratulations to Chris, Dara and Michael who carried out a textbook operation along with Shane and Ash.”
