
Roscommon records highest temperature of 2025

Mount Dillon in County Roscommon claimed the highest temperature of March on the final day of the month.
The mercury level rose to 19 C at the Met Éireann synoptic station on Monday afternoon, marking the month’s highest temperature and the warmest day of the year to date in Ireland.
The previous record (18.8 C) was set up by Shannon Airport in County Clare on March 21st.
Monday marked the beginning of a prolonged dry spell that is likely to persist into the middle of April.
The warmest locations in Ireland were in the west with 18.1 C being recorded at Athenry, County Galway, and Claremorris, County Mayo.
Shannon Airport saw the temperature rise to 17.8 C, while Casement Aerodrome in Dublin recorded 17.6 C.
The ongoing settled spell follows a drier than average March.
Rainfall totals were below the climatological average at all 25 of Met Éireann’s synoptic stations, with most locations seeing less than 50% of their average expected rainfall for the month.
