New Climate Training Course Launched for Agri-Professionals

A new training course aimed at upskilling agri-professionals in climate action and farm sustainability has been launched by Teagasc, in partnership with Laois and Offaly Education and Training Board (LOETB).
The ‘Climate Action and Farm Sustainability’ programme is designed for those working in advisory, sales, training and support roles across the agricultural sector. It will focus on the science behind farm emissions, technologies to reduce them, and the development of sustainability plans using the AgNav platform.
Participants will also explore the role of biodiversity in cutting emissions and learn how to implement measures that improve water quality. The course begins this autumn at the Teagasc Environmental Research Centre in Johnstown Castle, County Wexford, and will include farm visits to demonstrate practical applications.

Speaking at the launch, Teagasc Director Professor Frank O’Mara said the course would help professionals understand the technologies available to Irish farmers to reduce emissions while improving productivity and profitability.
Joe Cunningham, Chief Executive of LOETB, said the programme would support farmers in tackling one of the most pressing challenges facing agriculture today. “Equipping agricultural professionals with this knowledge and expertise will ensure long-term viability and sustainability of the farm for future generations,” he said.
Mark Gibson, Head of Knowledge Transfer Outreach and Innovation at Teagasc, praised the collaboration between Teagasc and LOETB. “This course reflects our commitment to providing affordable and practical learning opportunities that support the adoption of sustainable practices across the agri-food sector,” he said.
