The UK is set for a spell of changeable weather over the next few weeks, according to the latest long-range forecast from the Met Office.

From 9 to 18 September, much of the country is expected to see showers or longer periods of rain, particularly in western and northern areas. Heavy downpours, thunderstorms, hail, and occasional strong winds are possible, especially if any deep low-pressure systems move across the UK.

Southern regions may see some drier and sunnier spells later in the period, with temperatures generally around average, though brief warm intervals are possible in sunnier breaks.

The outlook from 19 September to 3 October remains mixed. Northern and northwestern parts of the UK are likely to experience further rain, showers, and windy conditions. There is a continued risk of hail and thunderstorms.

At the same time, drier spells may develop, particularly in the south, where higher pressure could bring settled weather. Temperatures during this period are expected to be close to or slightly above the seasonal average.

Overall, the Met Office forecast suggests a period of unsettled conditions, with frequent wet and windy spells interspersed with brief intervals of calmer, sunnier weather.
