Signs of a September Settling – UK Met Office

Belfast-1200x675 Signs of a September Settling - UK Met Office
Belfast

After a spell of unsettled conditions, the UK Met Office says there are growing signs that drier weather could develop across parts of the country towards the end of September.

While further outbreaks of rain and at times windy conditions are forecast during the coming week, a ridge of high pressure is expected to push in from the west, initially bringing a greater chance of dry periods to northern areas.

By the final days of the month, high pressure is likely to become more dominant across much of the UK, reducing the frequency of rain and allowing for longer sunny or bright spells.

A cooler interlude is likely as the high builds, with chilly nights and fog patches possible. However, temperatures are expected to rise back towards seasonal norms by late September.

Into early October, the Met Office says the outlook is more uncertain but a typical autumn mix of weather is expected. Wet and windy spells will alternate with calmer, drier interludes. North-western parts remain the most prone to unsettled conditions while other areas may see a greater share of dry weather.
