UK Long-Range Forecast Suggests Classic Autumn Weather

UK-weather-1200x675 UK Long-Range Forecast Suggests Classic Autumn Weather

The UK is expected to experience a mix of settled and unsettled conditions over the next few weeks, according to the latest long-range forecast from the UK Met Office.

The period from Tuesday, September 30, to Thursday, October 9, is likely to start relatively settled for most areas, though cloudier conditions and occasional rain are expected in the northwest. Showers or longer spells of rain could occur across the country, but the wettest and potentially windier weather is forecast to remain focused in the northwest.

Elsewhere, one can expect more prolonged dry spells, often accompanied by morning mist and fog in some areas. Later in the period, the risk of deeper low-pressure systems bringing wetter and windier conditions rises, though forecasters caution there is still considerable uncertainty. Temperatures are expected to hover around the seasonal average.

Looking further ahead from Friday, October 10, to Friday, October 24, slow-moving weather patterns are initially favoured, with high pressure likely near the UK and low pressure to the north. This setup could bring slightly cooler and more changeable conditions, particularly in the northwest.

By mid-October, the forecast suggests a shift towards more unsettled weather as high pressure moves south and east, allowing low-pressure systems from the North Atlantic to bring intermittent wet and windy conditions.

Temperatures are expected to remain close to the average for the time of year, according to the UK Met Office.
