Dry weather prompts water restrictions in Kilkenny

Water-2-1200x675 Dry weather prompts water restrictions in Kilkenny

Uisce Éireann has introduced overnight water restrictions in parts of north Kilkenny to conserve supplies and ensure daytime availability during the summer.

The restrictions, which begin on Thursday night, will run from 9pm until 9am each night until further notice. Areas affected include Clogh, Ardra, Massford, Moneenroe, Coolbawn and Castlecomer.

During the restriction period, customers may experience reduced water pressure, discolouration or interruptions to supply. Uisce Éireann has advised that it can take three to four hours after the scheduled restoration time for full service to return.

Shane Aylward of Uisce Éireann thanked customers for their patience and appealed for further cooperation in conserving water. “We’re doing everything we can to protect and maintain supplies throughout the summer, but we’re also asking our Castlecomer customers to help by doing what they can to reduce their use,” he said.

The utility said it is working to maintain daytime supplies through measures such as tankering to reservoirs, night-time restrictions and pressure management.

An online water conservation calculator is available on the Uisce Éireann website, along with tips for reducing consumption in homes, businesses and gardens.
