1919: An overnight low of 1.1 °C at Phoenix Park is the second-lowest August minimum on record for the station.

1974: Severe thunderstorms strike the south and southeast. Rosslare, Co. Wexford, records 48.3 mm of rainfall.

1981: RTÉ News airs a “Costa Del Connemara” report highlighting how a late burst of summer warmth boosts local tourism.
