1870 – A record high temperature of 24.7 °C is recorded at Phoenix Park, Dublin.

1884 – Poor weather leads to the gunboat HMS Wasp is wrecking on a reef off Tory Island, Co Donegal, with 52 lives lost and only eight survivors.

2016 – The month’s lowest grass minimum temperature of -4.5 °C is reported at Castleconnell, Co Limerick.

2018 – High pressure builds over Ireland, keeping conditions settled through to the start of October.

2019 – Heavy rain causes flooding in Sion Mills, Co Tyrone. Northern Ireland’s Fire & Rescue Service responds to 30 flood-related calls. 48.8 mm of rain is reported at Ballyhaise, Co Cavan – 61% of the site’s average monthly rainfall.
