1988: After a windy day with gusts up to 100 km/h in the southwest, the overnight temperature drops to -0.5°C in Kilkenny.

2017: Hurricane Ophelia is named by the U.S. National Hurricane Center. While still far out in the Atlantic, its remnants would impact Ireland less than a week later.

2018: Finner, Co. Donegal records the highest air temperature of the month, reaching 21.1°C, its warmest October day since 2010.

2020: Daytime temperatures rise into the low 20s in the west.

2021: Johnstown Castle, Co. Wexford records the highest daily sunshine total of the month, with 9.9 hours.
