A chronological record of weather events and extremes that occurred in Ireland on June 22 throughout history.

1974: The temperature at Valentia, County Kerry, rises to 24c.

1979: Temperatures reach the low 20s in the south and east.

1981: Warm temperatures and light winds offer ideal weather conditions for the Irish Kite Flying Championships at Leopardstown Racecourse.

1995: The temperature rises to 24.5c at Shannon Airport in what will turn out to be a prolonged spell of warm and dry weather.

2007: A massive thunderstorm causes flash flooding and traffic chaos in some parts of south Dublin.

2015: A geomagnetic storm—known as the 2015 Summer Solstice Storm—struck Earth due to CMEs from a solar active region. Auroral displays were visible in Ireland, particularly across western and northern counties.

2016: Thunderstorms affect northwestern and western coastal counties.

2020: A storm system containing remnants of post-tropical storm Arthur produces a 64 knot (118 km/h) gust at Newport, County Mayo.
