Met Éireann has issued a series of Status Yellow Small Craft Warnings for Irish coastal waters today, as gusty northerly and variable winds continue to impact marine conditions.

A warning currently in effect from Mizen Head to Valentia to Loop Head remains valid until 14:00 today, with northerly winds reaching force 6 at times expected to create difficult conditions for smaller vessels.

Later today, another warning will come into force, this time extending from Mizen Head to Valentia to Slyne Head, as northerly winds of force 6 return. This alert will remain in place from 17:00 Sunday until 01:00 Monday, 21 July.

These warnings follow Saturday’s alert, which covered a wide section of the southeast coast — from Carnsore Point to Roche’s Point to Loop Head — where southeasterly or cyclonic variable winds reached force 6 or higher through Saturday night and into the early hours of Sunday.

Mariners and coastal users are advised to take extra caution and check the latest forecasts and warnings before heading out. The conditions, while not extreme, are potentially hazardous for smaller craft and may disrupt leisure and fishing activities.
