Met Éireann and the UK Met Office have issued a series of Status Yellow weather warnings as Storm Floris is forecast to bring unseasonably strong winds and heavy rain to large parts of Ireland from early Monday.

Status Yellow wind warnings are in place for Clare, Galway, Mayo and Sligo from 2am to 1pm on Monday. A second wind warning has been issued for Cavan, Donegal, Monaghan and Leitrim, where strong southwesterly winds are expected to veer westerly between 4am and 4pm. Met Éireann says the storm may lead to dangerous driving conditions, fallen trees, power outages, structural damage and wave overtopping along exposed coasts.

A rain warning is also in effect for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo, valid from 2am to 10am. Spells of heavy rainfall, with the risk of thunderstorms, could result in localised flooding, lightning damage and difficult travel, particularly during the Monday morning commute.

The UK Met Office has issued a Yellow Wind Warning for all six counties—Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. The warning is valid from 6am on Monday until 6am Tuesday. The Met Office says Storm Floris is expected to bring a spell of unseasonably strong and potentially disruptive winds across the north of the UK, with a risk of travel delays, debris on roads, and temporary power cuts.
