Met Éireann Flags Settled Spell Before October Turns Mixed

Ireland is set for a spell of quieter weather with Met Éireann forecasting high pressure to dominate through the end of September and into early October.
The forecaster’s extended outlook points to cooler than normal conditions at first with drier weather prevailing for many areas.
From Monday 22 September to Sunday 28 September, high pressure is expected to be the main influence, bringing mostly settled weather. Temperatures will be lower than average for the time of year and rainfall slightly below normal. The atmosphere aloft will also be more stable, reducing the chance of heavy showers or thunderstorms.
The following week, from 29 September to 5 October, high pressure is likely to weaken only slightly. Conditions should stay largely settled with temperatures and rainfall closer to normal levels.
Met Éireann says there is no clear signal for high or low pressure to dominate between 6 and 12 October. The forecast suggests drier than average conditions in the west and a little more rain in the east, with temperatures remaining around average.
For the week beginning 13 October, low pressure to the north of the country could bring more mixed weather. Temperatures will stay near normal but it may be somewhat wetter overall.
Met Éireann’s outlook points to a generally mild and stable start to October with any wetter spells likely to come later in the month.
