1921: The temperature reaches 22.2 °C at Phoenix Park in Dublin.

1934: Winds gust to over 100 km/h as a storm system tracks northeastward over Scotland.

1976: Ireland braces for stormy weather as a depression of Ireland’s west coast begins to undergo rapid development. Gusts exceeding 130 km/h will be recorded on the following day.

1993: Dublin Airport reports 43mm of rainfall as strong winds and heavy rain sweep across Ireland.

2000: The World Windsurfing Grand Prix is held in Ireland for the first time. Brandon Bay in Kerry hosts the event.

2014: Ireland is hit by strong winds and heavy rain, caused by a depression just off the northwest coast. Peak Winds: The strongest gusts are recorded along the south and east coasts. Both Roches Point and Dún Laoghaire Harbour report gusts of 115 kph (62 knots). Significant rainfall totals are also recorded, with Dún Laoghaire recording 66.6 mm of rain.

2019: Johnstown Castle in Co. Wexford logs the highest daily sunshine of the month, with 10.1 hours of sunshine.

2021: Markree in Co. Sligo records the lowest air temperature of the month, falling to 0.2 °C, which was 5.6 °C below its long-term average for the date.

2023: Mount Dillon in Co. Roscommon records the lowest air temperature of the month, dropping to -1.9 °C. This was 7.6 °C below its long-term average for the date.

2024: Sherkin Island in Co. Cork records its highest daily rainfall in October on record, with 54.2 mm falling. This accounted for 42% of the island’s typical monthly total, marking the wettest October day in 52 years of records.
