Ireland will experience unsettled weather for the next 48 hours, transitioning to calmer and drier conditions for the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Through Wednesday, Ulster and Leinster will see persistent heavy rain and mountain snow, gradually clearing north by evening.

The southwest and west will be drier, though light rain is expected Wednesday afternoon.

Temperatures will feel cold, ranging from 6 to 10°C, with the chilliest conditions in inland Leinster and Ulster and milder weather in the southwest and west.

Thursday starts dry, sunny, and cold nationwide, but cloud will spread from the west and south as a new frontal system brings rain from Thursday evening into Friday.

Significant rainfall is forecast for the northern half of Ireland, with western Connacht receiving the heaviest amounts.

Thursday and Friday temperatures will range from 10 to 13°C, with moderate to fresh east-to-southeasterly winds on Friday adding a colder feel.

Rain will slowly clear Friday night into Saturday morning, giving way to a mostly dry and bright day.

Easter Sunday will be largely dry, with only a few scattered light showers. Light, variable winds and sunshine will make it feel pleasant, with highs of 12 to 16°C.

The following week will bring a mix of sunny intervals and scattered showers, with temperatures climbing to the mid-teens.

The below GEFS ensembles show an improving picture for Ireland beyond Friday with air pressure rising, precipitation totals falling and air temperatures increasing.
